Tyler Halverson live at Stockyard
Born and raised in the tiny town of Canton, SD (pop. 3054), Tyler Halverson isn’t just any cowboy. He’s got the hat and the boots, but he also plays a mean guitar and writes an even meaner tune. He has no problem bouncing around the country chasing adventure (or a girl), and is telling his different kind of cowboy tale, bridging honest storytelling with songcraft inspired by country powerhouses Garth Brooks, George Strait, and Hayes Carll as much as Boyz II Men, Taking Back Sunday, and The Used. Halverson fell in thrall to music at an early age, receiving his first guitar while in middle school. A local bluegrass festival convinced him to focus on music, throwing down at 4H and FFA festivals before heading to Nashville to attend the prestigious Belmont University. Upon graduation, he decided to hit the road and spent an extended run traveling around South Dakota, Montana, and Wyoming, all the while writing and playing his songs on social media. Halverson’s original approach caught fire with a string of independent releases including “Beer Garden Baby,” “Mac Miller,” and “Your Bar Now” (with Kylie Frey). Must be 21–with valid ID
The Breakfast Club live at Stockyard
The Breakfast Club® is the longest running, most recognized ’80’s tribute band in the United States. Formed in 1993, the group was the first of its kind. The mission was simple: create an entertainment group that embodied the enigmatic, creative, and buoyant spirit of music and live performances of the original MTV generation of the 1980’s. That mission remains today. This is NOT some wig wearing, mall fashion version of an ‘80’s cover band, lip syncing to tracks while pretending to play an unplugged guitar. This is real hair, real 1980s clothes, real vocals, and real musical talent. The Breakfast Club® is the real deal, performing live ‘80’s pop “better than the original artists” – Wilmington Star News. The guys of The Breakfast Club® have shared the stage with numerous music legends, including but not limited to, Whitesnake, The Romantics, Poison, Drivin’n’Cryin’, Hootie and The Blowfish, White Lion, The Smithereens, Edwin McCain, and many others. The Breakfast Club® has had the privilege of performing for rockstars, movie stars, many of America’s top corporations, NASCAR legends, and millions of the most amazing, fervent fans any band could ever hope for. **CANCELLED** Tennessee Jet live at Stockyard
Before Tennessee Jet became known for his genre-defying music that straddles the line between red dirt country and grungy rock, he traveled the interstates with his bronc-riding father and barrel-racing mother. From the bench seat of an old Ford pickup truck pulling a horse trailer to the next rodeo, he’d watch the hills and grasslands of America fly by. Country music was always on the radio, and those honest, heartfelt classics by icons like Willie Nelson and Dwight Yoakam, both of whom he’d later join on tour, left a permanent mark. Tennessee Jet’s newest album “Ranchero”continues his diverse musical explorations blending twangy guitars and Appalachian fiddle with the grungy groove in tracks like “Ray Wylie Hubbard” and the platinum streaming hit “Bury My Bones.” This album not only nods to his roots but also pushes the boundaries of what country music can be, showcasing his full-band capabilities and collaborative spirit. Throughout his career, Tennessee Jet has been on a constant journey of self-reinvention, creating music that’s uniquely his own. “My career has been a constant purging of what I’ve done before, so I can reinvent and create something that’s uniquely me,” he explains. His approach has always been to fuse the contrasting elements of rock’s distorted stomp with country’s twang, paying homage to influences like Neil Young and Jack White while crafting his narrative reflecting a lifelong exploration of self and place, with lyrics referencing literary heroes like Faulkner, Shakespeare, Kerouac, and Woody Guthrie, alongside his own experiences speeding down the Indian Nation Turnpike or paying homage to the DIY ethos of his early days. “I’m always looking to challenge the definition of what a specific genre is supposed to sound like,” Jet says. “People are aching for truth in country music again, and that’s what these records came to represent.” His albums, from “South Dakota” through “The Country” and into “Ranchero,” are a testament to his artistic crossroads, where nostalgia meets innovation, crafting a version of country music that’s both fresh and familiar. Taylor Hunnicutt live at Stockyard
Taylor Hunnicutt makes old-school southern music for the modern world. She’s a proud daughter of Alabama, writing songs that nod to the state’s tradition of country storytelling, rock ‘n’ roll rebellion, and guitar-driven grit. Sharpened by a touring schedule that’s kept her on the road for roughly 200 days a year, she makes her full-length debut with Alabama Sound — an album that unfolds like a love letter to the American South, written by a road warrior who’s spent most of the decade far away from home. “It’s a little country, a little singer/songwriter, a little Americana, and a lot of soulful southern rock,” says Hunnicutt, an opera-trained vocalist who began writing songs after dropping out of music school, landing a waitressing job at a blues juke joint, and sitting in with the bands that came through town. She’s no longer the guest artist, though — she’s the main act, and Alabama Sound showcases her high-energy, hellraising brand of southern stomp, country-rock twang, and amplified attitude.
