12 Stones is an American hard rock band that emerged from Mandeville, Louisiana, in
2000. The band quickly gained recognition after signing with Wind-up Records within
just 15 months of formation. Their self-titled debut album, released in 2002, featured hit
singles like “My Life” and “Broken,” the latter serving as the official theme song for
WWE’s Judgment Day pay-per-view in 2002. Their music has been featured in various
films and television shows, showcasing their ability to resonate with a wide audience.
In 2003, lead vocalist Paul McCoy’s collaboration with Evanescence on the single “Bring
Me to Life” propelled the band into the spotlight, earning a Grammy Award for Best Hard
Rock Performance in 2004. This exposure significantly enhanced their profile, leading to
further opportunities in the entertainment industry. The band’s songs, such as
“Shadows” and “Photograph,” were included in major film soundtracks, further
solidifying their presence in popular culture.
After nearly a decade with Wind-up Records, 12 Stones made a strategic decision to
leave the label in 2010, seeking new creative directions. They signed with Executive
Music Group and released their fourth studio album, “Beneath the Scars,” in 2012. The
album showcased their evolving sound and was well-received by fans and critics alike.
Continuing their momentum, the band released “Picture Perfect” in 2017 and a five-
song EP titled “Smoke and Mirrors, Volume 1” in 2020. With a strong discography and a
commitment to their craft, 12 Stones remains a prominent force in the hard rock genre,
consistently delivering powerful music that resonates with their audience.
